Training Resource Description
Forest planning, management, monitoring and restoration can be carried out more easily and accurately thanks to Earth Observation Forest Monitoring products. In this respect, tree cover density (TCD) is an essential product for estimating forest area and forest area change. TCD can be adjusted to meet national forest definitions which is essential for forest applications, including UNFCCC REDD+ process. By applying geospatial operations with specific forest definition parameters such as minimum area, minimum width, and minimum canopy cover density, precise forest area maps can be achieved.
This webinar from EO4SD covers the technical specifications and methodological approaches to produce the TCD forest product, along with examples of its applications for REDD+ and forest monitoring.
The webinar covers:
- How are Tree Cover Density and Forest Area products developed?
- How can you build Forest Area maps based on my National Forest definition?
- How can the TCD product be used for REDD+ reporting?
