Your Questions, Answered: Make the Most of the Knowledge Hub

Welcome to the Common Questions About the Knowledge Hub page, your dedicated space for finding answers and guidance about using our platform. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular user, this page addresses the most frequently asked questions to help you navigate the Knowledge Hub with ease.

The GDA ABC Knowledge Hub is a new, interactive online platform designed to facilitate knowledge exchange. It features a comprehensive repository of European Earth Observation (EO) service capabilities tailored for development contexts. The platform includes a fully searchable library offering access to use cases, testimonials, example data, and a wealth of related resources collated in a fully searchable library. In addition, the Knowledge Hub enables direct interaction with experts through virtual “consultation rooms” and provides access to archives of GDA publications, webinars, and modular training materials, which are valuable for external trainers and integration into other learning platforms.

This refers exclusively to a product or service that uses tools, techniques and data products derived from Earth Observation (EO) systems. An EO capability may be tested (in response to a stakeholder requirement within the context of a specific project or programme) or non-tested (possible, but still to be demonstrated to the IFIs). Each EO capability may be relevant for different thematic areas and use cases.

The Knowledge Hub Use Cases are a sub-topic/sub-challenge within a thematic area (e.g. "Locust Monitoring"). Each Use Case is comprised of one or more enhanced EO thematic information products, as well as non-EO capabilities (e.g. modelling). Each information product can be part of one or more Use Cases. A Use Case can be applicable to one or more supported projects. A supported project can benefit from one or more Use Cases.

The Knowledge Hub Case Studies are real-world implementations of EO products/services produced by a consortium or organisation to address an IFI team’s needs, often but not always, in a specific country with a client state (e.g. "Locust egg breeding mapping in Eastern Africa").

The Library Training Resources are a curated collection of Earth Observation educational videos and training materials, ranging from beginner to expert level. These resources are sourced from a wide range of reputable providers.

The E-Portfolio feature allows you to save resources from the Library into E-Portfolio collections, enabling easy access at any time from your Knowledge Hub profile. This streamlines the process of collecting valuable information for future reference. Create personalised collections to categorise and organise your saved resources based on themes, projects, or specific areas of interest. To add items to your E-Portfolio, simply click the "Add to E-Portfolio" button located in the top-right corner of any content in the Library. To access your E-Portfolio, go to your user area by clicking on your user name in the top-right corner of the website, then select "E-Portfolio" from the left-hand menu.

The Training Modules Assembler (TMA) is only accessible to Knowledge Hub users with Trainer status. If you are an IFI-based trainer and would like access to the TMA, please fill out the "Become a Trainer" form, which is linked on the Trainers Area page. If you already have Trainer status, you can access the TMA by clicking on your name in the top-right corner of the screen, navigating to your user profile, and selecting "GDA Training Modules Assembler" from the left-hand menu.
