Mapping Resilient Infrastructure in the Amazon with EO Data

Description

The ESA GDA Transport & Infrastructure (GDA T&I) activity is supporting the “Brazil Proactive, Safe, and Resilient Road Asset Management Program, a World Bank-led initiative. By leveraging high-resolution Earth Observation (EO) data, the initiative identifies infrastructure vulnerabilities, supports sustainable development, and promotes a zero-deforestation approach. Key activities include flood modelling, waterway monitoring, and boat detection, which inform green infrastructure planning and improve connectivity in remote regions. This EO-driven approach enhances climate resilience, supports bioeconomic growth, and strengthens the foundation for inclusive and environmentally responsible infrastructure development in the Amazon.
