Marine Enviroment & Blue Economy
Training Resource Description
In this video, from Imperative Space’s ESA EO from Space the Optical View MOOC, Dr Hayley Evers-King explains the causes and effects of harmful algal blooms (sometimes also known as ‘red tides’), and how they can be monitored with satellite Earth observation.
The ability to observe and anticipate the effects of such blooms can be of great benefit to a range of industries, (including tourism and fisheries), and to individual citizens. It can also act as an added indicator of the effects of climate change on the marine system.
